Wood Workshop Machine Training at Unit 5
Spend a weekend building the knowledge and confidence to use the workshop machines safely.
This is a two day workshop designed to familiarise students with the workshop machines, so that you can use them safely during future scheduled courses. This course is only for students who have attended the five day Introduction to Furniture Making courses previously. Please contact me prior to booking if you have any questions about suitability.
You will work using rough sawn timber and will learn about timber selection to fabricate the components for a pair of Krenov style workshop trestles, which can be assembled at a later date.
We will cover timber preparation in the machine rooml using:
radial arm saw
bandsaw
surface planer
thicknesser
table saw
This course offers a detailed, customised approach needed to build confidence and understanding to work with timber - with a maximum of four students for individual attention and sharing amongst the group. It covers the foundational knowledge and precision approach that underpins the craft of furniture making, skills that can be applied to your future workshop projects.
